Listen to me and answer me, Lord,
because I am afflicted and helpless.
Guard my soul, watch over me,
Save me my God, I trust in you.
You are my God, have mercy on me;
I cry to you all day long.
My soul rejoices,
because, O Lord, I lift up my soul to you.
Your Lord, you are good and forgiving,
full of love and mercy for those who call on you.
Hear my prayer,
Pay attention to the voice of my supplications.
I cry to you on the day of my anguish,
because you always answer me.
Oh Lord, no one like you,
No work is like yours.
Teach me, Lord, your way and I will walk in your truth;
strengthen my heart with the fear of your name.
Lord my God, I will praise you and give thanks with all my heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.
You, Lord, merciful and gracious God,
slow to anger, full of love and loyalty,
look at me, and have mercy on me;
grant me your strength,
and keep me as your son.
Psalm 86(85)
Thank you, Lord, for the apostles, pillars of your Church,
Blessed are you for Peter, humble fisherman from Galilee,
Blessed are you for Andrew, the first called,
Blessed are you for Santiago that attracts so many pilgrims to Compostela,
Blessed are you for Juan who rested in your Heart,
Blessed are you for Philip who invites us: "Come and see" (Jn 1, 46),
Blessed are you for Bartholomew, whom you called under the fig tree,
Blessed are you for Matthew, evangelist and apostle who left his office as publican,
Blessed are you for Thomas who passes from incredulity to one of the most beautiful professions of faith: “My Lord and my God! (John 20:28),
Blessed are you for James, son of Alphaeus,
Blessed are you by Simon the Zealot,
Blessed are you for Judas.
Lord, make us constantly seek you, have the desire to listen to you and be healed by you!
Have mercy on us who are nothing without you!
Amen
My father, I give myself to you, do with me what you want. Whatever you do with me, I thank you. I am ready for all, I accept everything. As long as your will is done in me, in all your creatures, I wish nothing more, my God. I put my soul in your hands. I give it to you, my God, with all the love of my heart, because I love you, and it is a need of love for me to give myself, to put myself back in your hands, without measure, with infinite trust, because you are my Father.
Amen
-Prayer of abandonment of Saint Charles de Foucauld
Take Lord, and receive all my freedom, my memory, my intelligence and all my will. All I have and all I own. You gave me everything, to you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours, dispose of everything according to your entire will. Give me only the possibility of loving you and your grace, that alone is enough for me.
(Act of Abandonment of Saint Ignatius of Loyola)
Listen to my pleading, Lord! Be merciful and send the help I need.
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me, O my people.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
Oh, do not hide yourself when I am trying to find you. Do not angrily reject your servant. You have been my help in all my trials before; don’t leave me now. Don’t forsake me, O God of my salvation. For if my father and mother should abandon me, you would welcome and comfort me.
Tell me what to do, O Lord, and make it plain because I am surrounded by waiting enemies. Don’t let them get me, Lord! Don’t let me fall into their hands! For they accuse me of things I never did, and all the while are plotting cruelty. I am expecting the Lord to rescue me again, so that once again I will see his goodness to me here in the land of the living.
"Don’t be impatient. Wait for the Lord, and he will come and save you! Be brave, stouthearted, and courageous. Yes, wait and he will help you."
- Psalm 26 II or Prayer of the Innocent
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
O greatly Merciful God, Infinite Goodness,
today all makind calls out from the abyss
of its misery to Your mercy---to Your compassion,
O God; and it is with its mighty voice of misery that it cries out.
Gracious God do not reject the prayer of this earth's exiles!
O Lord, Goodness beyond our understanding,
Who are acquainted with our misery through and through,
and know that by our own power
we cannot ascend to You,
we implore You; anticipate us with Your Grace
and keep on increasing Your mercy in us,
that we may faithfully do Your holy will
all through our life and at death's hour.
Let the omnipotence of Your mercy
shield us from the darts of our salvation's enemies,
that we may with confidence,
as Your children await Your final coming
- that day known to You alone.
And we expect to obtain everything promised us
by Jesus in spite of all our wretchedness.
For Jesus is our Hope:
Through His merciful Heart
as through an open gate we pass through to heaven.
